Biography

Igor Jukić is a university professor, international lecturer and expert in high-performance sport. He did his bachelor, master’s and doctorate degree in the field of kinesiology at the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb. In the period 2009/13. he was the dean of the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Zagreb. He holds the class Training Theory and Methodology, Physical Conditioning, and he is a lecturer at the doctoral studies in kinesiology at the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb, and at the postgraduate specialist studies in Occupational and Sports Medicine and Schoolar Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb. He has published more than 200 scientific and professional papers, books and book chapters in the field of sports training, sports science and kinesiology.

He is the founder (2003) and current general secretary of the Croatian Association of Physical Conditioning and the founder (2006) and current president of the European Association of Physical Conditioning. In Zagreb, he founded the magazine Physical Conditioning (2003) and the international conference Physical Conditioning of Athletes (2003).

In the field of high performance sport, he worked with the youth and senior basketball teams of Croatia, won a gold medal with the U18 team at the Eurobasket in 1996 and a silver medal with the U20 team at the World Championship in 2001. He worked with the senior basketball team from 1997-2006, and participated at the Eurobasket in 1999, 2003 and 2005. With the Croatian football team, he participated in the World Cup in Brazil in 2014, and in the Euro qualifiers for Euro 2016. In the period 2016/18, he was the director of sports preparations in the Baskonia-Alaves group (Spain, Basque Country) where has established a unique system of high performance BAL. In 2021, he was a sports preparation specialist at FC CSKA Moscow. Also, he was a personal expert for the fitness preparation of a number of top athletes (Ivica Olić, Mirko Cro Cop Filipović…).

He is currently a member of the Performance Advisory Board (Eoroleague Players Association) and member of an expert international group within the Football Science Institute (FSI). In 2011, he founded Biotrening Ltd., a company that has international references in the field of high performance sport.

From 2022, he was appointed as director of the High Performance Sport Center at the Croatian Olympic Committee.
